Hello! Labas!
I am currently performing as Vanda Jordan in Venus In Fur by David Ives at Theaterlab as part of Two In Love: A Two-Hander Theater Festival.
This is one of my DREAM roles. This is a character that captures not only the nuance of being an auditioning actor but being a woman while doing so. I feel so liberated to play such a complex but excited character.
I have a Bachelor of Arts in theater and psychology, and have used my studies in cognitive and behavioral psychology to understand and physicalize the characters I portray. I spent time in Italy at Accademia dell’Arte studying physical theater and spent time at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film & Institute in the one year conservatory program studying the Method. In practice, I blend all the different forms of creation I have studied with physical movement and sensorial memory as the foundation.
I live and breathe on the stage, but when I’m not there, you can find me behind the scenes directing. I enjoy conceptualizing, shaping, and weaving the smaller journeys of individual characters into a greater thematic story and world.
I am most drawn to morally confusing and thought provoking pieces of work, stories that expose truths that leave you uncomfortable. I also adore Chekov and his sad Slavic stories, they feel close to home.
Artist’s Statement
As an artist and individual, I reject the idea that theater is entertainment. I prioritize the process of creation over the final result, and I desire a theatrical process based in physicality and humanity.
